Rebuilding Bonds

It's been a few months since Face's rescue, and everyone's still tensely looking over their shoulders. They've split up for the moment, hoping to better evade potential pursuers, but no one's exactly thrilled about it.

Face's memory is slowly returning, bits of it coming back like pieces of a patchwork quilt. There's still a lot missing, though,and it still hurts that it's gone. Which is why they're standing in a pawnshop on a dingy side street looking for a deal.

It's not what either of them want, really. They should get to have something special, something theirs. But they just...can't, right now, so they make do with what they've got. Just like always.

"Yeah," he says, reaching for a towel.

"Pretty corny, I know.."

[notjustaface]

"Guess you probably think about that a lot though," Face takes the initiative of wrapping an absurdly fluffy towel over Murdock's shoulders; "how it just keeps coming back down to us."

His strong arms wrap around his lover once more and he half-laughs at the musical refrain that flirts through his head. "Guess I just... can't... help... falling in love... with... you." His grin lingers even after brushing a kiss on the bridge of Murdock's nose.

He chuckles softly. They are in Vegas, it makes sense to bust out the Elvis tunes.

"Yeah... guess you get to do it all over again, huh?"

He's trying to see that as a good thing.

"Not completely..." he lowers his head, licking his lips.

"You know when you told me, my first thought wasn't what I did wrong to lose my girlfriend... it was wondering what I did right to have my best friend."

Mushy as it may be, it's true. The depth may be new, but the feelings weren't exactly a surprise.

He really doesn't know what to say to that that won't involve actual tears, so he settles for another few moments of kissing and cuddling.

"C'mon. I believe there's a hot tub out there with our name on it."

It's a nice, comforting moment at least - getting the chance to simply stroke his fingers through wet snarls and enjoy the simplicity of eager kisses.

"Mmmmm, jacuzzi time..." He grins, leading Murdock over toward the rather impressive layout of cheeseburgers and strawberries and chocolate and booze. "Tell me you hit the jackpot with me, baby."

"Like winning the lottery every day, baby."

He follows him over, nodding approvingly at the spread. That's a lot of food.

Well, there's a lot to be said for being prepared. Maybe more for being over prepared.

"Have you ever eaten a burger in a hot tub? It's about the second most luxurious and pretentious thing you can do in one."

[notthatcrazy]

"Can't say I have," he replies as they settle in. "But I'm thinking we'll probably make it through a few things on that list."

[notjustaface]

"Mmmm, a few... but I'm pretty sure after we've had a good meal and gotten the stress out of our system we're not exactly going to be counting."

Number one's already on his list.

"Mmm... pretty sure all my higher brain functions are gonna be otherwise engaged."

[notjustaface]

"Higher... lower... middle..." He grins, picking up the first covered plate and piling pickles and lettuce onto a rather amazing looking cheeseburger before holding it out toward Murdock.

"I'm gonna do things that are gonna curl your toes."

He takes the first somewhat sloppy bite. Perfection.

"You do know what I like."

[notjustaface]

Yes, he really is perfection...

"Mmmm; cheeseburgers, chocolate, me..." he grins wide, pushing closer to straddle Murdock's lap in the water as he offers another greasy bite; "sock puppets, that thing I do with my tongue..."

"Things, plural," he corrects, licking a drop of sauce from his lip. "Your tongue's pretty talented."

[notjustaface]

"Oh?" He grins, wiping Murdock's lips with a warm kiss - letting his tongue linger a long moment.

"I won't deny that much... but I don't know if you've seen every trick I've got up my sleeve."

"Oh, I'm pretty sure I haven't. But you got all the time in the world to show me."

It's nice to believe, just for a while, that that's true.

"Mmmm, I think tonight..." he purred, pressing kisses up Murdock's scruffy jawline to his ear before whispering; "...I've got something special..."

"Yeah? Do tell."

He's happy enough to be where they are, anything else is a welcome bonus.

[notjustaface]

Leaning back, he takes a generous bite himself - letting the idea stew a little bit.

"What is the most awkward thing you can think of that would drive you wild?"

[notthatcrazy]

He tilts his head, considering the question.

"We're naked in a Jacuzzi eating cheeseburgers. I'm pretty open-minded at this point."

[notjustaface]

"My tongue... your ass..." he grins wider, lifting an eyebrow.

"Sounds weird, but I guarantee it'll blow your mind."

[notthatcrazy]

"Ah."

He thinks about it like they haven't actually done it before, because as far as Face us concerned, they haven't.

"Hell, I'll try anything once."

[notjustaface]

And that's enough to draw a broad grin across his face as he leans back and rather luxuriously finishes his burger - already eyeing the bowl of ripe strawberries and fondue pot burning down full of warm chocolate.

"That's my boy..."

[notthatcrazy]

"You know it."

There's a comfortably full feeling in his belly as they finish up, but they're just getting started.
